A difficult-to-absorb concept that’s marred by poor screenwriting [second half is a borefest]… Has few entertaining moments, that’s it… The ‘Wow Factor’ is clearly missing. Also, the title is a problem. It just doesn’t come easy on the lips.

On the whole, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya may be somewhat entertaining but it will be rejected by the majority at the concept level itself and hence will find the going tough. Its poor title is a big minus point as a lot of people would not feel inclined to watch the film because of its irritatingly long and difficult title.

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya directed by Amit Joshi, Aradhana Sah, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon explores the whimsical scenario of a man falling in love with a stunning robot named Sifra. Despite its potential for social commentary, satire, and comedy, the film’s execution fluctuates between fun and flat moments.

Once the novelty of the notion wears off – and that happens pretty quickly – there is little on offer here barring the fact that this is the first time that Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon have teamed up.It is all hollow prattle and no real substance. An experiment gone awry, it is two and a half hours of cinematic profligacy. Avoidable.

And then the movie is taken away from the strengths he plays to, and starts swinging wildly: is it a robot-com, or a robot-horror, or just another stab at this, that and the other?

At a time when mega-scale action films are ruling the big screen, this one comes as a refreshing concept packaged with humour and good music. The situational comedy gets repetitive and doesn’t take off as smoothly, but when it lands, it proves to be an entertaining fare.

‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ had solid potential that isn’t fully exploited. Shahid and Kriti‘s pairing is fresh and gives us blockbuster vibes, but the half-baked writing and shoddy direction put a major glitch in this AI experiment.

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya could have been a fresh, novel, out-of-the box narrative that could set a precedent and kick-start the genre of science fiction in mainstream Hindi cinema. But it turns out to be an unexciting, puzzling and a bit of a jarring experience. Nonetheless, it’s a good looking film.

It’s complicated. And yet so breezy! The weird title not withstanding, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is a joyride. Original and unexplored, the plot is a pleasurable potpourri of flavourful fantasy as well as a mordant comment on loneliness and the search for a perfect soulmate. Is that even possible in today’s day and age? It is, it is! Provided you are okay with a robotic partner who will say yes when you want.
